Showers and storms continue

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – We continue to track showers and storms this evening as the wet weather pattern continues. The number and intensity of the showers and storms are not as high this evening as it was late last night, but there is still plenty of moisture for these storms to work with, so any area that winds up seeing a storm could see a quick half-inch or more in the rain gauge. Later tonight, patchy fog will develop thanks to all that moisture again. While that will mainly be in places that have picked up rain today, there is enough moisture for fog to develop in other areas. Lows will be in the mid-60s; I expect them to be slightly cooler than what we’ve seen the past few days, but still a shade above normal.

Tomorrow will be a rinse-and-repeat type of day around the area, as we’ll see another good chance for showers and storms, mainly in the afternoon and evening.
The focal point for all this rain over the past few days has been a stationary front that has been parked over the region, and while it will move a bit to the north and south over the coming few days, it will largely remain in place until it breaks down later this week. Highs tomorrow will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
Later this week, the front that has been stationary over the area will finally transition to a cool front and will move southeast and away from the area. But it won’t be drying out as another front will move into the area from the northwest. In fact, it will be even wetter as the rain chances will rise into the 70-80% range.
While it won’t get drier, it will be slightly cooler, only topping out in the upper 70s on average throughout the upcoming weekend. Eventually, this next front does push through, and we get a break from the wet pattern early next week. It will also warm back up, although not to the levels that we saw last week.
