WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Last night brought flooding to Raleigh County and other counties outside of our viewing area. This group of showers has since weakened, but rain will last through the day once again. The showers and storms from last night will continue to drop rain this morning before finally passing through early this afternoon. Later in the day, showers and storms will be more broken up, but most of the viewing area will receive rainfall. While rainfall will generally be between a quarter and three-quarters of an inch, heavier rainfall from isolated thunderstorms is possible.
The risk of heavy rain within thunderstorms, along with the rain we have previously received, is elevating the flood risk in those counties. However, a Flood Watch for our viewing area was recently canceled, which is good news. Make sure to stay weather aware and have an indoor plan if you still have an outdoor one. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the latest:
After the cold front passes through our region tonight, it stalls out tomorrow morning. This front becoming stationary means more rain for the region once again. Continued thunderstorms and showers for Tuesday and Wednesday mean a couple of things. First, the rain is beneficial for our region. We are still in a drought and need the water. However, if too much comes down at one time, flooding will be an issue for our region. Both of these elements are true, so these storms and showers need to perform a balancing act to stay beneficial and not bring flooding issues.
The front will finally start moving away from the region on Wednesday, but that does not mean the rain will immediately retreat. Thunderstorms and showers continue to develop and pass through as the front slowly moves northeast. Gloomy conditions will remain as a result of the rainy activity. Rain hangs on for most of Wednesday night before finally dissipating Thursday morning. Make sure you have your weather gear ready for the first half of the week.

Showers will leave Thursday morning, finally allowing sunshine into the region during the afternoon hours. These mostly sunny skies will last through Friday, bringing beautiful weather back into the forecast for the end of the week. We have high pressure to thank for these conditions, as showers and thunderstorms will continue in the southeastern states this week. That high-pressure center will keep the showers to our south from bringing rain to us until this weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday have a 30 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms. Despite the chances returning this weekend, they are much lower than what we had over the last week. Here’s the 7-Day Forecast:
