WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Today will be a wonderful weather day with temperatures inching close to 60 degrees in the afternoon. These nicer conditions last through the evening, making for one of the milder days this winter. However, the good times are short-lived with showers developing overnight. Rain will switch to a wintry mix by Wednesday morning, which could cause some disruptions to morning commutes across the region. The rain and warm temperatures will help with the snow melt, but there will be lingering slick spots and the piles of ice and snow aren’t going anywhere just yet. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
After the wintry mix leaves Wednesday afternoon, the rest of the work week will remain calm. Partly sunny skies will persist and high pressure moving in Thursday morning will keep us dry. Temperatures will dip down into the 30s once again, but it will not be nearly as cold as previous weeks.
The next bout of active weather will come on Valentine’s Day. Most plans for the day should run smoothly, but rain starts to come into the equation overnight into Sunday morning. Conditions will switch between rain and a wintry mix multiple times due to fluctuating temperatures. These conditions will help melt off snow and ice, but the mix could cause some travel issues Sunday and early Monday. If enough rain falls and melts off snow, we could also have some water issues from rising streams and creeks. We are continuing to keep an eye on the system. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
