Rain Early Monday Leads To Mostly Dry Week; Rain Chances Return Late-Week

A Severe Thunderstorm risk still encompasses some of our area. A level 1/5 (Marginal Risk) still includes Beckley/Lewisburg and areas north. Some severe storms across Pennsylvania and Ohio will continue to move south with a cold front and could still be strong to minimally severe across our northern region. Wind gusts up to 60 MPH look to be the main hazard with this activity as much of the energy will be drained overnight before the storms move through after 2AM Monday.

Here is a look at the future radar up across the main severe risk area from Pennsylvania to Indiana. You can see plenty of reds being shown, indicating stronger storms that would contain damaging winds and small hail. The movement of this would be to the southeast. With this picture being at midnight Monday, we can picture this activity moving into our region in the very early morning hours of Monday. Heavy rain and lightning should continue into our area.

In The picture below, you can start to see some higher returns being seen on the future radar. This picture is at 4:30 AM Monday, you can see some heavier showers/thunder activity moving into Nicholas County, but most is still back toward Charleston. This will be weakening as it moves into our area.

Our next big chance of rain comes through Thursday and Friday. Rain on Thursday will be scattered through the region, while the rain on Friday looks a little more likely and a little more impactful. Nonetheless, it should still just be a soaking rain for the area.

Looking at the 7 day forecast and you can see temperatures remain fairly steady throughout the next week. We have a brief warm up back toward 70 on Thursday before another cold front comes through with the next big rain chance on Friday. Temperatures stay around average though, in the 50’s into the weekend!
