WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Cold temperatures and even worse wind chills once again plague the morning commute. Make sure to wear plenty of layers and to give yourself some time to scrape off ice from the car before heading to your destination. Temperatures will recover to above-freezing values later in the afternoon, inching closer to 40 degrees before falling off again tonight. Overnight, the next snow showers will start to develop and approach the region. These showers will cause more disruptions through the region for any weekend travel. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
The snow will last through Saturday afternoon before dissipating slowly into the night. Accumulation will be similar to the last event on Thursday, which will cover secondary roads and cause icy spots to form on the main roads as well. Be careful taking any weekend trips, especially Saturday morning and early afternoon. After the snow leaves, we are greeted by a shot of cold air from the arctic thanks to the jet stream dipping down once again. Temperatures will drop from the upper 30s into the lower twenties between Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Overnight temperatures will be worse, as some regions dip into the single digits.

The cold weather and sunny skies will remain not just for Sunday, but through the first half of the work week. Temperatures will routinely top out in the mid-20s while lows dip into the single digits. This could cause some pipes to freeze, so be sure to have faucets dripping from Sunday until temperatures recover Wednesday afternoon. Shortly after temperatures recover, we are expecting the next round of active weather. As of now, Thursday morning is the most likely starting time for any activity, but there is still uncertainty for the second half of next week. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
