Quiet end to the weekend before the heat kicks in

After several days of soggy weather across southern West Virginia, drier conditions are finally setting in—just in time to wrap up the weekend on a high note. While a few lingering showers were still possible earlier today, most of the region is now drying out, and that trend is expected to continue for several days.

For the rest of tonight, we can look forward to calming weather. The gusty winds will gradually weaken, and skies will begin to clear. Rain is expected to end around sunset, leaving behind cooler conditions, especially in our higher elevations. A Frost Advisory is in place once again for those mountain areas of Pocahontas and Nicholas Counties, so be sure to protect any sensitive plants and outdoor belongings.

Tomorrow, highs will sit in the mid to high 60s, and will end up being the coolest day of the week. A significant warm-up is on the way, with highs soaring into the 80s by the end of the week. We’ll be dry for the majority of the week as well.

Our next chance for rain doesn’t arrive until Friday and Saturday, when a new system could bring scattered showers and thunderstorms back to the area.

Until then, enjoy the sunshine, stay cool, and stay tuned for updates all week long on WOAY’s StormWatch 4 forecast.
