SUMMERSVILLE, WV (WOAY) The Summersville Police Department has arrested a man for allegedly bringing a gun onto school property.
Ronald Stroupe Jr, of Princeton, WV, is facing numerous charges, including possession of a deadly weapon on the premises of an educational facility, brandishing, obstructing an officer, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct.
Officers were initially asked to escort Stroupe out of a girls’ basketball game at Nicholas County High School.
According to police, a school resource officer was unable to calm him down after he got involved in an argument with a Nicholas County parent. When officers tried to escort him out, he allegedly became physical with the officer.
When the officer placed him under arrest, a gun fell out of his waistband onto the gym floor. He then allegedly grabbed it and refused to let it go until he was forcibly disarmed by the school resource officer and sheriff’s deputies.
Stroupe was booked into Central Regional Jail.
