Preparations are underway for Fayetteville’s 4th of July celebration

FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY)- Even though America declared its independence back in 1776, the country still comes together to celebrate. Fayetteville will be hosting its annual Heritage Festival and 4th of July celebration for all to enjoy in this quaint small town.

“I think that it’s pretty unique to come to a small town heritage festival and 4th of July celebration,” said Tabitha Stover, the executive director of the Fayetteville Visitor Center. “There’s not a lot like it to just like, have an ice cream cone and do like balloon tosses, like it’s family fun for your whole family. Bring a blanket and sit on the courthouse lawn, listen to music. It’s a really special event and just encourages people to come out and get involved.”

This event will be a multiple-day celebration starting on the 3rd and going to the 5th.

There’ll be multiple events ranging from a parade, hot dog eating contest, a patriotic pet contest, and so much more. Of course, there’ll be a fireworks display on the 4th at the Fayetteville Town Park.

Since they anticipate large crowds for the display, they have a parking solution.

“Parking is crazy in town and there will be a free shuttle that day. So you can park at the Fayetteville Pre K-8, and you can get shuttled into town,” explained Stover. “And I highly recommend that anyone coming for fireworks because parking’s kind of a nightmare.”

You can go to their website for information on the shuttle pick-up sites and sign-ups for the parade, various contests, and more.
