BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Mental health matters, so coming together for remembrance, hope, and support at the Out of the Darkness 2025 walk is important for Raleigh County.
The Mountain State has been profoundly affected by suicide.
“It means a lot to me. I have been personally impacted and lost a very good friend to suicide. In his honor, I want to continue to fight suicide and save lives,” Co-Chair Tim Ketterman said.
According to Ketterman, suicide is the second leading cause of death among 10-34-year-old West Virginians.
“That’s a huge range of individuals impacted by suicide,” said the Out of the Darkness Walk co-chair. “We need to pay more attention to each other’s mental health. With our walk, we allow those resources to come together to let the community know that there is support and help.”
