Nice weather made for a great Friday around the region. Temperatures peaked in the 70s, with cooler readings in parts of the Greenbrier Valley and Bluefield.
On the downside, winds were breezy again, and that elevated the fire danger slightly.
But, on the positive side, the humidity levels were nowhere near as low today as they were a couple of days ago (remember that 15% humidity level back on Wednesday evening?).
Tomorrow, the nice weather comes to a screeching halt as a good chance for showers and storms is in the forecast on the front side of a powerful low-pressure center passing to our northwest that is bringing very rough weather to the Plains and Midwest today. Some of the showers and storms could be on the strong side, and there will be periods of heavy rain. An isolated storm or two could be severe as well. Any severe storms will feature strong winds and large hail, but even if the storms are not severe, hail and gusty winds are still a possibility.
Later in the extended forecast, snow…yes snow…is likely by late next week.
