WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Snow is lingering in the Greenbrier Valley this morning, but it has already affected the morning commute across our region. Roads are slick and slushy with new snow and the lingering ice from the big storm a couple of weekends ago. As a little icing on the cake, another round of lighter snow will pop in this afternoon down in the southern coalfields. Snow has a chance to reach towards the northern counties, but the southern coalfields will get the most of the lasting snow. Some areas will get beyond an inch of snow with the incoming snow. Thankfully, this stuff will clear out tomorrow, but it won’t be the last of the wintry weather. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
Friday morning will start dry, but the next system will start bringing snow in the afternoon. The low-pressure system will be all the way up into Canada, but the front it drags with it will dip down into Appalachia. The northern counties will see more snow, while our southern counties see a little less. However, this system is trending to bring more snow into the region than the previous, further burying us. Roads will be slushy and slick once again Friday evening and Saturday morning before the snow clears out in the afternoon. We will have an official snow forecast later today. For now, most of the region is trending around 3 inches. As usual, we’ll likely see less in the southern coalfields and Greenbrier Valley and more in the high country.

Saturday will be cold but sunny, and is also the start of an improving weather pattern going into next week. High pressure will move into the area, keeping us dry. After the high pressure leaves, warmer air starts to migrate over into the region. Temperatures will improve over the weekend and into next week, finally reaching 40 degrees on Monday and close to 50 degrees on Tuesday. This milder break may be short lived, but is much-needed for many to dig out of the ice and snow lingering on driveways and parking lots. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
