Nice for Valentine’s; Rainy Sunday

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): After another cold start, temperatures will get into the lower 40s this afternoon. Sunny skies will also be sticking around after some morning clouds leave the region. These nicer conditions will continue into Valentine’s Day, so any plans with your significant other likely go off without a hitch. Temperatures will get into the low 50s, making for a nicer day to walk about or sit outside for a lunch date. However, a low-pressure system will be moving through the southern states, reaching our area in the wee hours of Sunday morning. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:

The storm will start as rain for most of us, but the higher elevation may see a wintry mix early Sunday before switching back to rain. The wintry mix likely reappears in Pocahontas county later in the afternoon, but the rest of the region stays with rain for the duration of the event. With the rain teetering between a half of an inch to an inch, some smaller streams and creeks may overflow due to excess runoff from rain and snowmelt. Ponding of water is also a possibility across the region thanks to the runoff. Make sure to stay aware through the day in case of minor flooding. The storm leaves late Sunday night, ushering in a better stretch of weather.

Warmer temperatures and drier conditions will ring in the next week. High pressure once again lingers for a day or two before leaving the area late Tuesday. Temperatures go up steadily though the first half of the week, reaching 60 degrees by Wednesday afternoon. However, with that high pressure leaving, we could see some showers from low-pressure systems to the north Wednesday and Thursday. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
