New Funeral and Cremation Home Opens in Beckley

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – A new funeral and cremation service has opened in downtown Beckley, aiming to provide families with a more personal and transparent experience during one of life’s hardest moments.

Grace Funeral and Cremation Service, founded by Terry Whittington and Dale Burger, held its ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, December 9th. The owners say their goal is to offer an alternative to larger funeral corporations by keeping services intimate, affordable, and family-focused.

“We’re the little guys,” Burger said. “We didn’t care for the way big companies treated families, so we’re doing it our way.”

Whittington added that the idea came after hearing from people who felt their needs weren’t being met. “This was the answer – to meet those needs ourselves,” he said.

The owners emphasize transparency, even advising families against unnecessary purchases. “They’re not just a number to us,” Burger said. “They’re part of our family.”

Grace Funeral and Cremation Service is already working with several families and hopes to become a comforting presence for anyone navigating loss.
