Appalachian power employees and contractors are currently assessing damages and making repairs after the high winds and heavy rain we had yesterday.

Outages peaked at 18,000 customers. As of 10 a.m., about 10,000 customers in West Virginia were affected. Fayette County is one of the counties with 500 or more outages.

AEP estimates power will be restored for 90 percent of affected customers today. Restoration is taking the longest in areas where more extensive repairs are needed.
