WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Temperatures are lingering from the upper 50s to lower 60s. This is a bit cooler than we have been over the last week. Patchy fog is also developing across our region this morning. Remember to slow down and use your low beams until the fog lifts around 10 AM. Skies will remain mostly sunny through the day, allowing temperatures to reach the lower 80s this afternoon. It will be a wonderful but brief break from the persistent rainfall. Today will be the best day for outdoor work or other activities this week. Otherwise, they will have to wait until at least Sunday. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the latest forecast:
A cold front approaching from the Midwest will eventually make its way into our area tomorrow. Unfortunately, this will end our short-lived break from the rain. Showers may start up as early as tonight, but the majority of activity will occur Thursday morning and afternoon. Storms and showers will dwindle during the evening and overnight hours, but will quickly return to the forecast on Friday. The cold front will be to our east, but another disturbance is trending to impact our area. The persistent upper-level trough in our area is allowing continued activity through Saturday.
Thankfully, these showers and storms will remain less intense than the rounds of severe weather and flooding we saw last week. Less available energy and moisture will lead to less rainfall and windy conditions. Isolated downpours are still possible over the next couple of days, making localized flooding our main concern for the rest of the week. Thursday will be the rainiest day of the next rainy pattern, which is when localized flooding will be most likely. Friday and Saturday will remain rainy, but these days are trending lighter.
After the rain moves through on Saturday, most activity will fade. Sunday and early next week are trending drier, which is good news. A stray shower or storm may show up on Sunday, but these chances are very low. Rain is good, but we have been getting too much of a good thing as of late. Monday in particular will be absolutely gorgeous. Humidity will be lower, temperatures end up in the mid- to upper 70s, and skies remain mostly sunny. It will be a near-perfect day, so make sure to plan something fun if you can. Tuesday will be great as well, if not a pinch warmer. Here’s the 7-Day Forecast:
