WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The sunshine early this afternoon will give way to another round of showers and storms later today.
RAINFALL: Low pressure pushing through the Ohio Valley will initiate a new round of scattered storms between 6-9 p.m. today. Wednesday will be dry until 6 p.m., then one or two storms are possible. Storms in the Midwest Wednesday night will push southeast and diminish to rain by the time they reach southern West Virginia Thursday morning. Another low pressure will bring a shower or storm on Friday with a few showers over the weekend. All told, an inch of rain will spread across the landscape.
Overall weather summary: Temperatures will be in the 80s with lows in the 60s over the next week, with Thursday likely being the warmest.
DROUGHT IMPACTS: Since several trees are famished from the drought, heavier rain and breezy wind will continue to take off leaves that are either weak or have changed color, so don’t be surprised to see more leaves down than normal over the next few days in this active weather pattern. It won’t take a severe storm to necessarily strip a tree of many leaves.
