Mercer County, WV (WOAY) – A Mercer County woman is arrested on multiple charges including attempted murder.
According to a criminal complaint, 35-year-old Deanna Renay Proffitt of Lasmeet, WV was arrested for Burglary, Attempted Murder and Malicious Assault after a reported domestic situation.
On the morning of May 12, 2025, Mercer County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic situation in the Lashmeet area of Mercer County where a man was allegedly cut in the throat.
Prior to arriving deputies were informed by dispatch that a female later identified as Deanna Proffitt had forcibly entered the residence demanding to take her children. Profitt allegedly fought with a male at the home and cut his throat during the fight. He was able to fight her off until deputies arrived.
The male victim was taken to Princeton Community Hospital for treatment of his wounds. Proffitt was taken to PCH for treatment for injuries caused by entering the house through the broken window. She was later arrested and charged.
Deanna Proffitt is currently in the Southern Regional Jail under a $100,000 dollar bond.
