Mercer County, WV (WOAY)- The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department is warning the community about a phone scam.
Authorities received reports of scammers telling people there is a warrant for their arrest due to missing a federal court hearing and they must make a payment over the phone to avoid arrest.
Mercer County Sheriffs advise the public that at no time will any court system request payment for a fee over the phone to avoid arrest.
