LEWISBURG, WV (WOAY)- “People around here don’t quite know, how big our building actually is,” said Philip McLaughlin, Carnegie Hall Marketing Director.
Carnegie Hall is known for hosting performances for people to go and see. However, with this large space, there is more to see inside than just from a theater seat.
“Well, welcome to Art Walk. We’re lucky not only to have one gallery. We have five different galleries in our space, which is a little different than most places around here. That’s why we call it an Art Walk,” explained McLaughlin.
Art Walk features three rotating and two permanent galleries that guests can enjoy. Within their rotating galleries, they feature different West Virginia artists. This is a way for them to help support artists while enhancing the community.
“To us at Carnegie Hall, we feel that the art enhances people’s lives, and enhances our community. We are, you know, a diamond in the rough in West Virginia and we’re lucky about that, but. A lot of it is because we have hung our hat on arts tourism,” said McLaughlin. “And, you know, so it stimulates our economy, and it makes your life better. You know, people that come in here do so not only through the arts, but through music and everything to enhance their lives, to make their life better, to make it, you know, and enjoyable thing without art. What is life? You know, I mean, it is something like that.”
This art walk is free to see Monday through Friday 10-4, and they encourage everyone to check it out. On October 4th, they will host an event showcasing the next set of artists. If you want more information on their current and upcoming galleries you can visit their website.
