LEWISBURG, WV (WOAY) – Tuesday night, the Lewisburg City Council approved new personal protection equipment (PPE) for the fire department.
This year, the fire department received a COVID grant through AFG, which purchased new respirator cartridges, but the grant did not approve the masks’ purchases. The city council approved $10,740 for the fire department to purchase the new respirator masks to use the cartridges.
“This PPE purchase in the amount of around $10,740 is to buy the mask and everything that will be able to be used with the cartridges that were approved under the AFG grant,” said Fire Chief Joseph Thomas.
The funds for the purchase will come from the city’s cares fund.
