BECKLEY, WV (WOAY)- Legacy Church’s mission statement says “Equipping people to serve god and each other.” Their biannual giveaway is a perfect example of just that.
Family Marketplace in Beckley donates many items to legacy so they can host this giveaway.
“This time the donations were so great that we didn’t have enough room in our sanctuary for everything,” said Linnea Brooks, a member of the church. “We had over a hundred contractors’ bags full of clothes, women’s, kids, and infants. We have household items that were donated. We had lots of toys that were donated, just hundreds of bags. We had 16-foot trailers full of items.”
They do this because there are so many people in need in our area.
“So many foster kids that our families come in, so many grandpas, aunts, great grandparents that are raising their grandchildren, that need the help, and so many families that are in need, that’s in Beckley and surrounding areas that this time of year, it just helps them out a lot,” explained Brooks.
Many people are grateful to get these items, and Legacy says that they are happy to help however they can. If you missed the winter giveaway then keep an eye out for the springtime as that’s when they do their other giveaway.
