Chelyan, WV (WOAY) K9 Jett is recovering after being injured while assisting deputies during a stabbing investigation in Kanawha County.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office says Jett was deployed Tuesday as deputies attempted to apprehend a suspect who had barricaded himself inside a home in the Chelyan area.
During the encounter, authorities say the suspect stabbed K9 Jett, causing a laceration to his head.
His handler, Corporal Barbagallo, immediately transported him to a veterinary hospital, where he received emergency treatment and stitches.
The Sheriff’s Office says K9 Jett is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
Officials also praised Corporal Barbagallo for his quick actions and dedication to his K9 partner during the incident.
