Justice in good spirits after meeting White House official

CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY) – Governor Justice attended the roundtable meeting with White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx yesterday.

Dr. Birx offered a pat on the back to state officials, especially Gov. Justice. She noted that after putting together her report, she expects the governor to get calls from other governors across the country.

Justice says he’s happy with the roundtable and was in good spirits today after Birx praised the state’s response to the pandemic.

“If she were sitting here, she’d tell you this: she was amazed,” said Justice. “She was amazed with what is going on in West Virginia. I believe West Virginia’s great, and I have been trying to tell the world just that. The problem is the world has perceived West Virginia as backwards and with all the problems. Well, we’re changing that. We’re becoming the diamond in the rough that everybody missed.”

Dr. Birx was especially happy with Justice’s plan to reopen schools.
