Jones named as new state forester

West Virginia has a new state forester.

Jeremy C. Jones, a graduate of West Virginia University and twenty-year member of the West Virginia Division of Forestry, takes over after the retirement of Tom Cover.

“I am honored to continue to serve the West Virginia Division of Forestry through this new role and thank Gov. Justice for this opportunity,” Jones said. “I am excited to lead the agency into the future.”

Jones will now be responsible for the entire division of forestry, which manages all of West Virginia’s woodlands.

West Virginia has the third most forests in the country.
