GHENT, WV (WOAY)- Calling all skiers, snowboarders, and snowtubers, Winterplace’s 2024-2025 winter season has officially opened!
The resort opened its slopes providing 17 trails for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels to enjoy. Every day you can enjoy up to 12 hours of skiing and snowboarding.
When you’re not on the slopes, you can head inside for food or drink to warm up and take a breather. The snow tubing park will open next weekend on Saturday, December 21. If you’re new to these winter sports, don’t worry as they have trained instructors to help and keep you safe.

The general manager encourages everyone to come over and give it a try. It doesn’t matter your skill level, it’s an activity that has more benefits than just being fun.
“In the winter time, we a lot of people get stuck inside and it can be depressing, you know, if we don’t see the sun and it’s cloudy, wherever it might be, it’s great for your mental state, your physical state just to get outside and ski,” said Josh Faber, Winterplace’s General Manager. “I mean, we’re so blessed to have a ski area so close to us, you know, in our town. I really, really hope more and more people give it a try. Some people might be a little intimidated by that. That’s why we have a wonderful instructors. We can get lessons out there, and do whatever it takes. I just say give it a try, get outside, get some activity going, and we’ll feel better, more than one way, that’s for sure.
