Cold pavement and air temperatures preceding a front will help instigate a period of freezing rain and light snow Tuesday morning.
TUESDAY TRAVEL: A period of light snow, sleet and freezing rain between 7-10 a.m. will make secondary roads, bridges/overpasses and on/off ramps slippery west of the Greenbrier Valley. The Greenbrier Valley will likely see a brief spit of freezing drizzle, with just enough to form a few frozen drops on the windshield, but no travel trouble.
In the afternoon, expect cloudy skies with all surfaces becoming wet as temperatures rise above freezing.
CHRISTMAS DAY THROUGH NEW YEAR’S DAY: The milder pattern we began Monday will resume Christmas Day and continue through early next week. A moisture-logged system will bring at least a half-inch of rain late Saturday to early Monday.
EARLY 2025: January 1-3 is our transition into a more sustainable colder period. A likely period of light snow is expected during the pattern change.
