Food pantry sees successful event

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Mountaineer Food Bank held its monthly food pantry this morning and received a huge turn out from the Raleigh County Community.

Over 400 cars lined up at Epling Stadium in Beckley. Volunteers spent hours passing out food boxes until all the food was gone. Epling Stadium’s General Manager, Tim Epling says he’s glad the stadium was large enough to host a mobile food pantry of that size.

“The last time that we did this, they had a lot of food leftover because of the rain and the weather, but today with the weather and the time of the month, it just shows you how much there is a need out here for communities to help each other. I am overwhelmed. I bet you that we have over 500 vehicles here,” said General Manager Tim Epling.
