Tonight will be the coldest night of the season in the Greenbrier Valley followed by warmer temperatures this weekend.
Saturday will be bright and sunny with milder temperatures. A mid-level cloud deck will push into the region by Sunday, but that won’t stop temperatures from reaching the 50s. A cold front will initiate rain early Monday. Advection fog will reduce visibility to under 1/2 of a mile Monday morning above 3,000 feet (western Greenbrier Valley and Pocahontas County). Rain will end by the afternoon, but it will remain cloudy and mild. Sun early Tuesday will give way to showers late, but a breezy southwest wind will pump temperatures to near 60 degrees.
Rain is expected Wednesday, changing to snow around 6 a.m. and ending by Noon. Snow accumulation of a coating to half inch on grassy areas is likely, but it’s not expected to impact travel or schools. Thursday will be colder and then Friday is the start of a warm pattern that will likely last into early January (not to say we won’t get a few cold fronts that knock temperatures down into the 40s for highs between now and then).
