Fayette County mourns loss of longtime educator and community leader Marion Tanner

Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) Fayette County Schools is mourning the unexpected loss of a longtime educator and community leader. 

School officials say Ms. Marion Tanner was a pillar of the school system, dedicating her life to serving students and families across Fayette County. 

She made a lasting impact as a teacher, former Fayette County Board of Education member, and as a founding member of Fayette County Read Aloud. 

Colleagues say her passion for education was unmatched and that she worked tirelessly to ensure every child in southern West Virginia had the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. 

Her legacy, they say, will live on through the countless lives she touched and the deep love she had for her community. 

Fayette County Schools is extending its condolences to her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
