WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): A Freeze Warning has been issued for western Fayette, McDowell, eastern Nicholas, southeastern Pocahontas, western Raleigh, and Wyoming counties until 10 AM this morning. Temperatures will remain in the mid- to upper-30s for the majority of the morning, so layers will be needed for the morning commute. Thankfully, conditions become more seasonable this afternoon as temperatures return to the upper 50s and lower 60s.
Conditions will remain dry, which means the fire risk for the area is elevated once again. Make sure to dispose of flammable objects properly and to follow the seasonal burn ban between 7 AM and 5 PM. The area will be parched through the rest of the week, so this risk will continue to be an issue as the week rolls on. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
Speaking of the rest of the week, the only change we will observe is the continually warming temperatures. While we are staying cooler today, we’ll be in the 70s by Friday afternoon. Skies will remain mostly sunny through the rest of the week, making for a calm and enjoyable time outside.
This weekend will be much of the same, but there is a potential kink in the forecast this Saturday. A line of showers will dissipate between the Midwest and our region, but a few lingering stragglers may end up bringing a drizzle into the region. While these chances are pretty low, it is not out of the realm of possibility. Any showers that pop in on Saturday will be light and not very impactful. After the drizzle dissipates or leaves, whichever happens first, we will return to much drier weather this weekend.

The dry conditions and warmer temperatures will be sticking around as we head into next week. While another drizzle chance similar to Saturday will appear on Monday, it will not be impactful. Skies will be partly sunny through the start of the week, but temperatures will end up in the lower 80s for most of our region. The summer-like temperatures will continue through the first half of the week, with nothing to quell the warmer temperatures from sticking around. Here’s a look at the 7-Day Forecast:
