Beckley, WV (WOAY) As we get closer to the final days of summer, many of us try to squeeze in as much fun as possible before things cool down in the fall. Newswatch got to enjoy the next-to-last round of live music at Fridays in the Park in Beckley, featuring the Dynamic Duo. City of Beckley Events Director Trish Morgan says that it’s been a good season, though a bit rainy. – And it’s not over yet.
“It”s Fridays in the park! We’ve been doing it every Friday, all summer, since the beginning of June. And we’ll go through next week. Next week will be the last one. Unfortunately, we’ve had to fight the weather a little bit this year and cancel a couple… But it’s okay. We’ve got a fantastic band, the Dynamic Duo. They’re from Oak Hill, and they’re rocking the house.”
The final Friday of the season will feature Strings of Green and Mike Kincaid from 11:30 am to 1 pm on August 28th. Morgan says it’s a show that shouldn’t be missed, and there are many other new and exciting things to do close by.
“Make a day of it. We’ve got a lot of new places downtown. There’s the new Soul’d Up restaurant. Jack’s Cafe is opening. He’s going to have food, and he’s got an arcade downstairs… Come and explore downtown! There’s actually things going on now… shopping at the Beckley market and Tiffany’s on Main. You know, there’s things to do. Got the international store down here. There are things going on in downtown, and it’s really exciting.”
