Concord Confirms Women’s Basketball Signing Class

WOAY – Concord women’s basketball announced Monday that 13 new players have signed with the program as part of the 2020 recruiting class.

The class represents North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia, with six players coming from Southern West Virginia. Leslie Bailey (Westside), Madison Blankenship (River View), Kristen Calhoun (River View), Grace Mitchell (Greater Beckley Christian), Makenzee Shrewsbury (PikeView), and Jaisah Smith (Bluefield) will all join the Lady Lions in the fall.

Concord had six area natives on their 2019-20 roster, including the lone senior on the team, PikeView graduate Madison May. She graduates as one of the most decorated players in Concord history, as the team’s second-leading scorer; she is the only Concord women’s player with 1,500 career points, 500 career rebounds and 250 career assists.

The Lady Lions went 21-9 this past season, reaching the Mountain East Tournament semifinals.
