West Virginia (WOAY)—Governor Patrick Morrisey announced that two more counties have been approved for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance following February’s severe flooding.
The federal government accepted the governor’s request for individual and public assistance in Raleigh and Boone counties today.
The Individual Assistance (IA) program funds individuals experiencing significant damage to homes or property.
The Public Assistance (PA) program grants funds to state and local governments and certain private non-profits to cover damages such as debris removal and infrastructure restoration costs.
FEMA is still reviewing Individual and public assistance requests for additional counties.
Residents of Boone, Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Raleigh, Wayne, and Wyoming counties who suffered damage from the floods that occurred February 15-18 are likely eligible for aid.
Residents can apply for aid online or by phone at 800-621-3362.
