Chilly Morning; Warming Up Later

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): A Freeze Warning has been issued for every county in our viewing area until 9 AM this morning as a result of temperatures around or below freezing. You will need your layers for the morning commute. However, the cold will not be around for long. Temperatures this afternoon will reach into the upper 60s and lower 70s. The sun will be out as well, so there will not be much limiting the increase of temperatures today. Make sure you are able to shed your layers later this afternoon and evening. This is one of those days where you head to work with the heater on and head home with the AC cranking. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:

The next chance of rain comes by tomorrow in the form of scattered showers. The rain will be light, falling in the afternoon and evening before dissipating overnight. Rainfall totals will be light, only between a tenth and a quarter inch, so there will not be much relief from the developing drought this time around. After the rain moves through, temperatures warm up again at the end of the week. Thursday will be mostly dry, although there is a very slight chance of an isolated drizzle or two. Friday will be the best day of the week with mostly sunny skies and temperatures inching closer to 80 degrees once again. Overall, this week will be another uneventful one.

This weekend will be much more active than the work week thanks to a cold front moving into the region once again. This front will bring widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms, dropping a decent amount of rain in the region. Showers will start Saturday afternoon and last through Sunday morning. Conditions will clear up a bit on the second half of Sunday, but more rain is on the way at the beginning of next week. The next low-pressure system will impact us mainly on Tuesday, but showers and storms are possible ahead of that system on Monday. We’ll end the month off on a wetter note, which is good news for our area.
