Bluefield Virginia man charged with murder following a New Year’s party

Tazewell County, VA (WOAY) – A Tazewell County man is in custody following a shooting at a New Year’s Eve party.

According to a media release from the Tazewell, Virginia Police Department, 23‑year‑old Coven Byrd‑Hall of Bluefield, VA has been charged with murder, aggravated malicious wounding, and additional weapons offenses related to a shooting that left one person dead and another person wounded. Investigators say this incident occurred at a house party in the 100 block of Vinton Street in the Tazewell area.

Coven Byrd‑Hall is currently being held at the Southwest Regional Jail without bond.
