Charleston, WV (WOAY) A Beckley man will serve 18 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to drug charges.
According to court documents, on April 1, 2024, 24-year-old Jazmir Tyheem Young sold more than 5 grams of methamphetamine and an undisclosed quantity of fentanyl to a confidential informant in a Harper Road parking lot.
He admitted to the crime as part of his guilty plea.
Young has a criminal past, including two previous felony convictions, and was on probation for a state-level criminal conviction during the transaction with the confidential informant.
District Judge Frank Volk imposed the sentence.
United States Attorney Moore Capito announced the sentencing.
Capitol also applauded the investigative work of the Beckley Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit, which consists of authorities from the West Virginia State Police, Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, and the Beckley Police Department.
