Beckley, WV (WOAY) The Beckley VA Medical Center has earned a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in its annual Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings report.
The ratings are based on several categories, including mortality, safety of care, readmission rates, patient experience, and timely and effective care.
Officials with the Beckley VA Medical Center say the recognition reflects the dedication of staff members providing care to veterans across the region.
Nationwide, 78 percent of VA hospitals that received ratings earned four or five stars this year.
Officials say this marks the fourth consecutive year VA hospitals have outperformed non-VA care facilities.
The Beckley VA says the department has also expanded services nationwide, including opening new health care facilities, increasing appointment availability, and reducing the backlog of veterans waiting for benefits.
