Beckley, WV (WOAY) – Beckley Police Department will host a K9 emergency medical course soon.
According to a post on the Beckley Police Department Facebook page, the police department will host Spike’s School K9 Emergency Medical Course (LEO).
The course provides hands-on training for K9 first aid, intervention for common injuries, and medical emergencies. K9 teams will learn what to do if they encounter injuries or medical emergencies while in the field so they are better prepared for future deployments.
Spike’s School program focuses on providing education through top-notch training from exceptional and recognized trainers across the country.
Spike’s School K9 Emergency Medical Course take place at the Beckley Police Department on July 9, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
If a K9 attending the course has received a ballistic vest from Spike’s K9 Fund’s donors, the K9 team must wear the vest for the duration of the course. If the K9 team does not bring the vest with them, the team will be responsible for training fees associated with the course.
