Fayette County Commission unanimously votes to sell three public service districts.

Fayetteville, WV (WOAY)- The future of three Fayette County public service districts has been decided.

The Fayette County Commission unanimously voted to start the process of dismantling the Kanawha Falls, Armstrong Creek, and Page Kincaid public service districts.

Last month, West Virginia American Water, the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the United States, made an offer to buy all of the failing utilities.

The commission voted 3-0 on Wednesday to approve the sale.

The commission is considering redirecting the funds from the sale to residents in impacted areas and establishing set rates for customers.

The commission scheduled three public hearings for the community to attend and further discuss the decision:

  • Kanawha Falls Public Service District: May 13 at 1:00 pm
  • Page Kincaid Service District: May 14 at 1:00 pm
  • Armstrong Creek Public Service District: May 14 at 2:00 pm

All hearings will take place in the Fayette County Commission Chamber, located at 100 North Court Street in Fayetteville.
