Another intervention filed in Fayette County’s troubled sale of County PSDs

Fayette County, WV (WOAY) – On Monday, there was another intervention filed in Fayette County’s troubled sale of County PSDs.

This time, it isn’t publicly funded loans in question. It is a private engineering firm claiming that the deal the Fayette County Commission worked out comes up short.

E.L. Robinson Engineering Company claims that from 2018 through 2025, they provided engineering and design services for water and wastewater improvements, as well as Cannelton Hollow and Scrabble Creek system improvements.

In the filing, they claim that in 2024 and 2025, Kanawha Falls PSD, despite being provided notice, failed to pay invoices totalling 667 thousand dollars.

The filing states that in the purchase agreement, West Virginia American Water is not assuming or agreeing to pay any debts of the districts and that the joint petition is silent as to whether the Fayette County Commission plans to pay all outstanding debts owed by Kanawha Falls and the other service districts.

WOAY reached out to all three Fayette County commissioners, asking if the purchase agreement is proceeding “As is, if the commission had discovered any debt that is not covered in the agreement, and if the sale price is being renegotiated.

We did not hear back by the time of the 6 p.m. broadcast.
