WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Foggy conditions start the day off on an iffy note, making commutes a bit tricky. After the fog dissipates, we’ll have some clouds in the sky and sunshine. Rain chances for today have gone down over the last 24 hours, keeping us mostly dry through the day. However, there is still a slight chance for showers in the highest elevations, though these will be weak and quick, dissipating in the evening if and when they pop up. Moving into the weekend, a cold front will approach slowly from the Midwest. This front brings thunderstorms and showers with some isolated downpours, which may cause some minor flooding issues. The most vulnerable areas include the Greenbrier Valley and Pocahontas county, as both have already had multiple days of rain this week. Sunday will bring much of the same, but more spread out and with cooler temperatures. The front will eventually pass through Sunday evening, and showers will dissipate early into the night. This front will be catalyst for a significant cooldown for most of next week. Here’s a look at the incoming front:

Next week will bring in sunny skies and wonderfully comfortable temperatures, making for a very nice end to the month of August. There’s really not much to say here besides enjoy the wonderful weather and make sure you’ve got water and sunscreen for any extensive time outside.
