One More Mild Day before Rainy Pattern Starts

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Temperatures are starting colder than yesterday, but will eventually get back to milder conditions in the afternoon. Cloud coverage will gradually increase, but won’t result in any precipitation for today. The first low-pressure system will approach overnight and finally bring rain into the region Friday morning. These showers will be widespread and will harbor isolated thunderstorms within, making for a damp and stormy day. Rainfall will be steady through the day and heavy in some spots, making it the main concern of the weekend. By the end of it, some could see an inch or more fall within the next few days. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the full forecast:

The rain does not end there, as a second low-pressure system brings another round of showers and storms into the region on Saturday. More steady rainfall with isolated thunderstorms and downpours will continue the active weather trend. This system will also carry a marginal severe weather risk to our south, which could bring a couple of gusty storms into the region. However, severe weather is positioned to stay to our south for now. The rain will gradually disperse at the end of the night, giving us a brief break on Sunday morning, but will return as a mix of rain and snow in the afternoon. Temperatures will drop back to more wintery values on Sunday thanks to a cold front passing through late Saturday night, allowing a short stent of wintery weather before we dry up for a couple of days.

After the weekend’s active weather, the beginning of the work week calms down thanks to high pressure in the region. Mostly sunny skies and cold temperatures will stick for a couple of days. However, we are watching a potential system that is positioned to develop in the middle of next week which could bring rain and snow back into the forecast. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
