WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): After the catastrophic flooding event we experienced last weekend, we get a small break from the elements tonight and Tuesday. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
Clouds will increase through the day on Tuesday, but snow won’t fall until early Wednesday morning. Wednesday and Thursday morning will feature 3-6″ of snow in most areas, with more in higher elevations, with heaviest snow rates from 7 am to 4 pm Wednesday. The colder temperatures will have additional impacts besides the snow, including icy roads and possible infrastructure damage due to pipes bursting. Keep your cabinets open and faucets dripping to prevent your pipes from potentially bursting during the week.
Road conditions will also be impacted greatly. Roads will be snow-covered for morning commutes on both Wednesday and Thursday. However, main roads will be wet in the afternoon with secondary roads staying snowy all day. Snow squalls will also impact the area overnight into Thursday, and those with late-night or early-morning commutes should avoid travel if possible. Thursday will feature bursts of snow throughout the day with winds picking up.
Friday will usher in a great week, the first in a while, as partly cloudy skies dominate. Temperatures will also rise above freezing, which is a great sign for those who have plans during the weekend. Monday will see the next rain chance as a system potentially develops and hits the area.
