WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): A few showers are showing up across the region, but conditions are generally calmer than yesterday morning. Fog is not a prevalent issue either, which is good news. Temperatures remain in the 50s across our area, finally bringing us some sort of fall feeling. The afternoon will not be much warmer as highs only reach the low to mid-60s later today. Persistent cloud cover and cooler air behind the stationary front are causing this ongoing cool down.
Showers continue to form through the day, and an isolated storm or two may be possible. Activity will peak in the evening hours, but rain is possible all day long. Heavy rain potential continues for our region, resulting in more localized flooding issues. A Flood Watch remains in effect for McDowell, Raleigh, and Wyoming counties until 10 PM tonight. Rainfall will be more scattered than the last couple of days, but any additional downpours will likely cause some issues. On the bright side, storms are not as likely and anything that forms will be weaker.
Showers will linger overnight and Thursday morning, but the end of the rainy pattern is near. The stationary front to our south will eventually slink away Thursday. We will be outside of its sphere of influence, resulting in dissipating showers and clearing skies later in the day. Tomorrow’s temperatures will remain similar to today’s. After the stationary front leaves our region, a high-pressure system will develop to our north. With no major disturbance coming to disrupt this pattern, we are expecting an extended streak of dry and cool weather. Friday will be spectacular with sunny skies and temperatures peaking in the mid-60s. Fabulous Football Friday will go off without issue, although a jacket will be helpful as the sun sets. The weekend will provide similar conditions. Mostly sunny skies and slightly increasing afternoon temperatures result in a great weekend for any and all outdoor activities.
