WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Another foggy morning and brisk morning is in our sights, especially in the Greenbrier Valley. Temperatures are in the mid-50s for our eastern and northern counties. The remainder of our area is hovering around average for this time of the day. Skies remain mostly sunny through the morning, allowing temperatures to warm up nicely through the day. This afternoon, high temperatures will reach into the lower 80s. Cloud cover will also increase through the day, but not enough to create widespread gloomy conditions. There is a very low chance for rain in the eastern portion of our viewing area, but any storms should hold off until Thursday. Today will be the last calm and dry day this week. Tomorrow will be the busiest weather day this week. Despite that, the morning will actually be quite calm. Not much activity is expected during the morning commute, which is a good thing. However, you will want to bring rain gear along for the ride. Scattered thunderstorms and showers will begin to pass through the area during the afternoon and evening hours. The potential for a couple of strong or severe storms is present due to morning sunshine providing sufficient energy. Damaging winds up to 60 miles per hour are the main concern within any storm that becomes severe. Localized flooding and hail are possible while tornadic activity is unlikely. Not everyone will be affected by severe weather, but everyone should be prepared for a couple of gusty storms.
Storms will move through the region tomorrow evening, eventually weakening after sunset. The severe weather threat will be over at that point, but storms will linger through the night into Friday. Isolated thunderstorms remain in the forecast for most of Friday before they fade away during the evening hours. Any remaining storms are likely to remain weak and brief, which is good news. Friday will be the last day of stormy conditions within our extended forecast.
Storms will leave the region behind, which allows stable weather to develop within our region. Both weekend days are trending to become mostly sunny and dry, which is great news. High temperatures will remain in the lower 80s throughout, which is a pinch above average for this tie of the year. If you have outdoor plans, Sunday will likely be the better day due to high pressure moving in. These nicer conditions will remain through Monday and Tuesday of next week. Temperatures will rise into the mid-80s, making things feel like mid-July rather than late August.
