WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Patchy fog is draped across the region, with the densest fog lingering in the Greenbrier Valley and just to our west in Charleston. The fog will dissipate around 10 AM this morning, revealing partly sunny skies within the region. However, the dry conditions will not last for our area. The stationary front that has been lingering close to the region since yesterday will cause thunderstorms to develop this afternoon. A couple of storms may be on the stronger side, but severe weather is expected to stay to our east. Heavy rain causing minor flooding issues will be the main concern for today.
Storms will last through the evening before dissipating overnight. However, activity will remain the forecast even after the stationary front finally moves away from our area late Tuesday night. The week will remain active with rounds of showers and thunderstorms expected to persist. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the latest:
The stationary front will eventually exit the area tomorrow night, but not before dropping widespread rainfall. Showers and thunderstorms will likely stick around through the day, only dissipating slightly overnight. Once again, heavy rain is a concern for our area. Low-lying areas and other trouble spots may experience flooding if impacted by repeated downpours. As for storms, the severe threat does expand a bit into the eastern half of the region. Damaging winds are a concern in a couple of isolated storms, while hail and tornadic activity are not very likely.
After the front pushes through, Wednesday and Thursday will serve as a buffer between disturbances. Despite no major disturbance returning to the forecast until Friday, conditions will remain moderate with scattered showers and thunderstorms. The front will bring slightly cooler air into the region, which will keep temperatures in the lower 80s for the most part. Lingering showers and storms will drop decent rain, but should stay sub-severe. However, this is not the end of the active pattern.

The second disturbance this week will come through on Friday. Another cold front will push through the Midwest and into our area, bringing a return to widespread showers and thunderstorms. Storms may be limited in strength due to previous activity and moderate temperatures, but we are keeping an eye on things as the week continues. The front will pass through between Friday and Saturday, allowing widespread rain to remain in the forecast for both days. Sunday will be slightly better after the front moves out, but rain chances remain for the second half of the weekend. Here’s the 7-Day Forecast:
