WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): This morning has been the mildest of the bunch this weekend, but the temperatures will only fall after reaching the mid-60s this morning. A cold front will bring widespread showers, isolated thunderstorms, and cooler temperatures across the region starting this morning. Rainfall will be lighter for our area, though there may be isolated spots that reach up to a half of an inch of rain. Thunderstorms will be weaker than last night’s storms in the lower Great Lakes, but a few gusty storms are not out of the question.
As the day goes on, temperatures will continue to fall. By the time kids get home from school, we’ll likely hang around the 50-degree mark. This evening, some may reach down to 40 degrees. Overnight, things keep dropping until we hit a morning low of 27 degrees. With temperatures getting colder, lingering showers in higher elevations may become a brief wintry mix. The front will finally move on and showers will dissipate by early Saturday morning. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
After the showers dissipate late tonight, temperatures will remain cold through Saturday. While skies are mostly sunny, we won’t reach past the mid-40s tomorrow afternoon. It will still be a nice day, just make sure to dress for the cold if you have any outdoor plans. Sunday will be just as cold in the morning, but temperatures recover nicely in the afternoon. We’ll be reaching 60 degrees in most of the region, and sunny skies will make Sunday a wonderful day.
While the weekend is nice and calm, active weather comes back into the forecast for next week. Scattered showers start to move in Monday afternoon and continue to pass in and out of the region until Tuesday evening. These will be lighter, so no need to worry about flooding during the first half of the week. However, Wednesday and the second half of the week will bring more widespread activity. Right now, models are trending towards a widespread line of showers coming in late Wednesday and retreating Thursday.
