WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The storms from yesterday thankfully behaved in our area, only bringing gusty winds, small hail, and heavy rain at times. However, we are not done with the front quite yet. Temperatures have fallen off the deep end, dropping nearly 40 degrees from their peak yesterday. This massive drop in temperatures is resulting in a switch from rain to wet and heavy snow in the region. Roads should be mostly unaffected this morning, though slick spots cannot be ruled out. This wet and heavy snow will stick to cars, grass, and other surfaces, resulting in a slushy morning. Thankfully, this stuff will move out early this afternoon, leaving minimal accumulation in the region. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
After the wintry weather moves on this afternoon, we will slowly recover through the day. Skies become sunnier later in the day, but temperatures will not reach much past 40 degrees at their peak. Thankfully, high pressure will be here to stay for a couple of days, allowing us to warm back up into the upper 50s and lower 60s by tomorrow afternoon. Friday and the weekend will bring absolutely fantastic weather. Sunny skies, seasonable temperatures, and no threat of rain or snow until early Monday morning.
This weekend is the time to get out and enjoy the nice weather before we go through another cooldown next week. The next cold front moves through on Monday, bringing more rain and snow into the region. It leaves quickly in the afternoon and evening, but temperatures will stay cold through Tuesday rather than quickly recovering. We do start to warm back up on Wednesday, but we only get into the upper 40s by the middle of the week. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
