OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – The wet weather pattern continued today as showers and storms once again rolled into and through the area. Some of these were on the strong side, but as has been the case so frequently over the last few days, the big potential issue with these storms is flooding, and the National Weather Service did issue a couple of flash flood warnings for parts of our area. As we’ve seen over the last few days, the storms are generally driven by the heating of the day and fade at night. Another common theme of the past few days has been morning fog, and that will also be in the forecast for tonight. Lows will be in the mid-60s.
Tomorrow will be more of the same weather-wise in the area. The storms continue to have quite a bit of moisture to work with, so as long as that’s the case, there will be a potential for flooding.
The focal point for all these showers and storms is a stationary front to our south. It should hold in place for another day or so before dissipating. Elevated rain chances remain the order of the day around the area. With some extra cloud cover, highs will be a shade cooler, generally in the upper 70s.
By Friday, another cool front comes into the area from the northwest and drives our rain chances even higher. The rain chances will still be high through the weekend, so any outdoor plans should have an indoor alternative.
Highs will be in the mid-to upper 70s on Friday and stay there through Monday of next week. Later in the forecast, we finally get a chance to dry out as the front pushes far enough south to no longer influence our weather. High pressure will take over for the last couple of days of the forecast, and rain chances will go away. With the extra sunshine, highs will rise into the lower to middle 80s.
