GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – Happy 100th Anniversary State Fair of West Virginia!
The cherished event kicked off its time-honored Mountain State tradition at the Lewisburg Fairgrounds on August 7, 2025 (you have until August 16 to check it out).
Steeped in history, from agriculture and livestock to concessions, rides, games, music, and so much more.
Many people have been attending for years and are excited about the centennial, which honors its pre-Civil War heritage.
As a little girl, Lewisburg resident Linda Bennett attended the State Fair with her grandparents. Now she’s taking her grandchildren.
“Watching them enjoy it. I love it, Bennett said. “I always run into people I haven’t seen since last year.”
A sense of nostalgia draws people to the West Virginia State Fair.
“We come every year, the kids love it, and I have been going since I was a baby,” said Amelia Cole, another Lewisburg resident. “Even when we moved away for a while, we still came back. It’s just a part of what we do, the food and the rides, we love it.”
Pinson Novelties has been a staple at the State Fair for more than 50 years.
“Started by my boss’s father, Robert Pinson. He’s known on the circuit as Diamond Bob. We have a State Fair t-shirt location, which is our home stand. We have this novelty stand here. And then on the other end of the grandstand is another novelty stand,” Vendor Christina Osterbind said. “I have been coming to this fair, I would say at least eight years, nine years, if not more. I love everything about it.”
Celebrating its 100th year, the State Fair has established itself as a place where families can come together.
“Our grandparents live around here, we love hanging out with them, and it’s just a very special family moment we get to enjoy,” said Olney, Maryland resident Katie Pickens.
